HKUST (GZ) President Prof. Lionel M. Ni Visits Campus Construction Workers
On the morning of July 14, Prof. Lionel M. Ni, President of HKUST (GZ), led a delegation to the project site of HKUZT (GZ) to visit the front-line workers who stick to their positions during the heat wave. Mr. Huang Xiaofeng, Deputy Director of the administrative committee of the Nansha Development Zone, Dr. Bin Li, Special Assistant to the President of HKUST (GZ) and Director of the President’s Office of HKUST (GZ), and representatives of Nansha District Administration Bureau of Industrial Park and relevant design, construction, supervision and management units also attended.

Prof. Lionel M. Ni expressed his concern for the construction workers fighting on the front line. He said that the construction team worked day and night amid difficulties such as the extreme weather and the pandemic to ensure that the 55 buildings behind him could be put into use before the opening of the school on September 1. On behalf of HKUST and HKUST (GZ), he also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in building the HKUST (GZ) campus.

Mr. Huang Xiaofeng, Deputy Director of the administrative committee of the Nansha Development Zone, expressed his gratitude to Prof. Lionel M. Ni and others for the visit. Amid?soaring?summer?temperatures, every worker is contributing to the construction of the HKUST (GZ) campus with the sweat of their brows. They feel grateful to Prof. Lionel M. Ni for his care and concern and also are determined to live up to the expectations of the school and all sides.

The representatives of the construction workers said that they are honored to get involved in the construction of HKUST (GZ), a high-level university, and will complete the campus construction faster and better.

The delegation also delivered herbal tea, cooling bags and other heatstroke relief materials to the representatives of departments at the construction site.
